Choose Your Deletion Method
You can delete your account and data using either method below. Both are fully supported and will result in the same complete deletion of your personal data.
Delete in the App
The fastest way. Deletes all local data immediately and sends an automatic account deletion request to our servers — no email required.
Request by Email
If you no longer have access to the App, or prefer to request deletion directly, email us and we will handle the full deletion manually.
Deletion is permanent
This action cannot be undone. Once your account and personal data are deleted, your prayer journal entries, reflection history, Reflection balance, and personal settings are permanently destroyed and cannot be recovered. Your Blessed upgrade entitlement will be removed from our system, though your App Store or Google Play purchase records may allow you to restore the purchase via "Restore Purchases" on a new installation. Please ensure you wish to proceed before confirming deletion.
What Happens to Your Data
We delete everything we can as quickly as the law allows. The table below explains exactly what happens to each category of your data upon a deletion request.

Why we retain purchase records: Swedish accounting law (Bokföringslag 1999:1078) requires companies to retain financial transaction records for 7 years. This is a mandatory legal obligation and cannot be waived. The retained records consist only of Apple-provided transaction identifiers and product codes — not your name, journal content, or any other personal data. Processing of these records is restricted strictly to legal compliance.
Deletion Timeline
Here is exactly what happens after you submit a deletion request, and when.
Immediately
Local data deleted
If you used the in-app deletion flow, all data stored locally on your device — your prayer journal, reflection history, Reflection balance, bookmarks, and settings — is permanently erased from your phone at this moment.
Within 5 business days
Acknowledgement & identity verification
For email requests, we will acknowledge receipt of your request and, where necessary, ask you to verify your identity (e.g., by confirming your Apple ID email or a transaction ID). This step protects your data from unauthorised deletion by a third party.
Within 30 days
Server-side deletion complete
All personal data held in our active systems is permanently deleted: your account identifier, authentication data (including Sign-In tokens), server-side Reflection balance, Blessed entitlement, push notification token, and support correspondence. You will receive a confirmation email when this is complete.
Within 60 days
Backup purge complete
Encrypted system backup copies (retained for disaster recovery) are automatically rotated on a 30-day cycle. Your data will be fully purged from all backup systems within 60 days of your deletion request, leaving no trace in any of our infrastructure.
Ongoing for up to 7 years
Transaction records retained (legally required only)
Purchase transaction records (Apple receipt tokens, transaction IDs, product IDs, purchase dates) are retained in a restricted, access-controlled environment for 7 years from the date of purchase, as required by the Swedish Accounting Act. These records are not used for any purpose other than legal compliance, and access is limited to legally authorised personnel only.

Frequently Asked Questions
Deleting your account removes your Blessed entitlement from our server-side system. However, the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android) both maintain their own independent records of purchases. This means that if you reinstall ChristBay in the future, you may be able to restore your Blessed upgrade by tapping "Restore Purchases" within the App — because your store still has a record of the transaction even after we delete our copy.
To be clear: once you delete your account, your Blessed features will no longer be active until restored. Restoration via "Restore Purchases" is dependent on Apple's or Google's systems and is not guaranteed by OakDev & AI AB.
All refund requests must be submitted directly to Apple, as Apple is the merchant of record for all ChristBay purchases. OakDev & AI AB does not process refunds directly.
- Visit reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with your Apple ID.
- Find the ChristBay purchase you wish to dispute.
- Select "I'd like to request a refund" and follow Apple's instructions.
Please note that you may also have mandatory refund rights under Swedish consumer law (Distansavtalslagen) or EU consumer law. Contact us at hello@oakdev.app if you believe you have a legal right to a refund and would like our assistance.
Your prayer journal entries are stored locally on your device. Upon in-app deletion, they are immediately and permanently erased from your phone. They cannot be recovered by OakDev & AI AB under any circumstances.
If you have cloud backup enabled on your device, a backup copy of your journal may exist in your personal iCloud (iOS) or Google One/Drive (Android) backup. This backup data is entirely outside our control — we do not have access to it. To remove it: on iOS, go to iPhone Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Manage Storage → Backups → ChristBay; on Android, manage app backup data through Settings → Google → Backup.
No. If you used ChristBay without creating an account, then all your data is stored locally on your device only. You can delete all of it instantly: open the App, tap Settings, scroll to the bottom, and tap Delete Account — or simply uninstall the App from your phone.
If you did create an account (using Sign in with Apple), use the in-app deletion flow or email us at hello@oakdev.app to have your server-side account data removed as well.
We will acknowledge your email request within 5 business days. We may ask you to verify your identity to protect your account from unauthorised deletion. Once verified, we will complete the server-side deletion within 30 days and send you a confirmation email. Encrypted backup copies will be fully purged within 60 days.
Under the GDPR, we are legally required to complete verified erasure requests within one calendar month (extendable by a further two months for complex requests). We aim to process all requests well within this timeframe.

Yes. After your account is deleted, you are free to reinstall ChristBay and create a new account at any time. As a new user, you would receive the standard 150 Reflections included with the App purchase. You may also be able to restore your previous in-app purchases (Blessed upgrade and Top-Up Packs) via "Restore Purchases", as Apple maintains independent records of transactions.
Your deleted journal entries, reflection history, and previous settings cannot be restored — only the purchase entitlements may be recoverable via Apple.
